Das können wir uns in Deutschland nicht vorstellen, da geht der Stromlieferant https://loadshedding.eskom.co.za/loadshedding/description her und stellt einfach mehrere Stunden den Strom für alle ab. Nun sind wir in Stufe 4, das sind dann mehrere Tage und mehrere Stunden mit Pause dazwischen

Was ist Load shedding?
Eskoms Load shedding (zeitweise Abschaltung von Teilnetzen aufgrund fehlender Erzeugungsleistung) bedeutet deutliche Einschnitte für die Wirtschaft und den Lebensstandard der Südafrikaner. Als Reaktion setzen Südafrikaner zunehmend auf Generatoren und vermehrt auch auf Photovoltaik- und Speichersysteme, um sich von der unzuverlässigen Strombelieferung des nationalen Versorgers unabhängig zu machen.
Load shedding hat sich als „Unwort” in Südafrika etabliert. Man versteht darunter das seit 2008 immer wieder vollzogene geplante Abschalten des Stroms für meist mehrere Stunden in bestimmten Gebieten des Landes. Grund für die Stromabschaltungen ist der enorme Strommangel in Südafrika, entstanden infolge jahrzehntelanger Vernachlässigung dringend notwendiger Wartungsarbeiten an Kohlekraftwerken, um deren Kapazität aufrechtzuerhalten. Ziel des Load shedding ist es, einen landesweiten Blackout zu verhindern
Dazu kam das dann meine Unterkunft auf einmal nach Dienstag gar keinen Strom mehr bis Mittwoch hatte , da einer vermutlich das Kabel beschädigt bzw. entwendet hat.
Montag abends haben die Freude der Angestellten mich auf ein paar Drinks eingeladen und dann haben wir einen Abend in der Küche gesessen und Frage Antwort spiel gespielt :-), später mit Michael Bier in den Slums besorgt. Man erfährt so einiges was man sonst so nicht mitbekommen würde. War total interessant und lustig.
Am Dienstag habe ich dann meinen Wagen abgeholt, kaufen ging wirklich nur mit Beziehungen, also habe ich den erstmal bis Anfang November gemietet.
Da immer noch kein Strom da war, haben wir Dienstagabend das beste draus gemacht und ich habe Wurst ( https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Boerewors )und Kohle gekauft und dann haben wir einfach gegrillt und dann wurden auch noch ein paar Möbelstücke verbrannt, da die Kohle nicht ausreichend war. Eine interessante Erfahrung mit den Angestellten des Gästehauses.
Nach 72 Stunden frieren :-) bin ich dann weiter gefahren, denn in Boksburg kann man nichts machen oder interessantes anschauen.
Zusammenfassend: die Unterkunft war okay, die Flugzeuge extrem tief :-) die Mitarbeiter Super,. Habe sogar Müsli bekommen, denn normalerweise ist nur das Englisches Frühstück im Preis drin, nur kann ich das nicht jeden Tage essen.
War ein paarmal günstig essen, jedes Restaurant hat einen Tag einen specials Day. Sonntags Burger für 3,40 im Turn n Tender https://turnntender.co.za/. Oder Dienstags jede normale Pizza 30cm für 4,40€( https://www.panarottis.com)
Am Tag der Abreise hat mit Faith schnell auf dem Gaskocher 2 Eier gebraten :-) und dann ging es weiter nach Mbola was früher Nelspruit hieß.

We can't imagine that in Germany, where the electricity supplier https://loadshedding.eskom.co.za/loadshedding/description goes here and simply cuts off the electricity for everyone for several hours. Now we are in stage 4, which means several days and several hours with a break in between.
What is load shedding?
Eskom's load shedding (temporary disconnection of sub-grids due to lack of generation capacity) means significant cuts to the economy and the standard of living of South Africans. In response, South Africans are increasingly turning to generators and, increasingly, photovoltaic and storage systems to gain independence from the unreliable power supply of the national utility.
Load shedding has established itself as a "dirty word" in South Africa. It refers to the planned shutdown of electricity for several hours in certain areas of the country, which has been carried out repeatedly since 2008. The reason for the power cuts is the enormous power shortage in South Africa, caused by decades of neglecting urgently needed maintenance work on coal-fired power plants in order to maintain their capacity. The aim of load shedding is to prevent a nationwide blackout.
In addition, after Tuesday my accommodation suddenly had no electricity until Wednesday, because someone had probably damaged or stolen the cable.
On Monday evening, the the staff invited me for a few drinks and then we sat in the kitchen for an evening and played a question and answer game :-), later we went with Michael to get beer in the slums. You learn a lot of things that you wouldn't get to know otherwise. It was really interesting and funny.
On Tuesday I picked up my car, buying it was not possible, so I rented it until the beginning of November.
As there was still no electricity, we made the best of it on Tuesday evening and I bought sausage ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Boerewors) some coal and had a brai and after the coal was gone we burnt a few old furniture. An interesting experience with the guesthouse staff.
After 72 hours of freezing :-) I moved on, because there is nothing to do or see interesting in Boksburg.
In summary: the accommodation was okay, the planes extremely low :-) the staff super,. I even got muesli, because normally only the English breakfast is included in the price, but I can't eat that every day.
Went for a cheap meal a few times because every restaurant has a specials day. On Sundays burgers for 3,40€ at Turn n Tender https://turnntender.co.za/. Or on Tuesdays any normal pizza 30cm for 4,40€ at Panarottis ( https://www.panarottis.com)
On the day of departure, Faith quickly fried 2 eggs on the gas cooker :-) and then I went on to Mbola, which used to be called Nelspruit.
